"Closed Face Tunnelling Machines and Ground Stability" a guideline for best practice

The report which is published by Thomas Telford is now available and is essential reading for all tunnel professionals who are engaged in tunnelling in urban areas using closed face tunnelling machines.

The report which was started in response to the ground collapse at Lavender Street on the Channel Tunnel Rail Link project seeks to provide Contractors, Consultants and Clients with a guide to best practice in TBM specification and selection, site investigation and the operation and monitoring of urban tunnelling operations with regard to ensuring ground stability and minimising settlement effects on third party properties and structures.

The report which has been written by industry professionals has been subject to International Peer review and numerous contributions from all sides of industry.
