Occupational exposure to Nitrogen monoxide

The working group is chaired by Paul Hoyland and includes representatives from Tunnel owners, designers, builders, operators and maintainers. The working group was set up following a meeting with the HSE convened by the British Tunnelling Society in March 2006 and attended by representatives from all sectors of the Tunnelling Industry. The meeting was called in response to representations by HSE (in December 2005) to the Tunnelling Industry with regard to the implementation of Chemical Hazard Alert Notice (CHAN) 28 - nitrogen monoxide, issued by the Health and Safety Executive in April 2003, revised in July 2004. CHAN 28. It was agreed that a Best Practice Guide on Occupational Exposure to Nitrogen Monoxide in a Tunnel Environment would be produced aand that an interim guidance note would be produced pending completion of the main document. This interim note was completed in August 2006 and is available for downloading by clicking below. The main guidance document will be available in 2007.
