Crossrail Health and Safety Impact Video - Gary's story

Mental health is an area that has significant stigma associated with it. One in four people suffer with mental health issues in any given year and the suicide rate in the construction industry greatly exceeds that in wider society. The film illustrates how people you see every day can be suffering in silence, how it's important to be aware and understand mental health issues and how showing that you care about the health of your colleagues by listening and offering support can make a real difference. Crossrail Health and Safety Impact Video - Jenny's story

This film highlights the fact that the unseen health impact of day to day dust exposure can, in the long run, be much more serious and debilitating than the more obvious health and safety failures. It explores how easy it is to dismiss them at the time and how, by the time the impact is felt it's too late to do anything about it. To view this film, please click here.

Crossrail Health and Safety Impact Video - John's story

The film uses the term 'experience may tell you' to illustrate how easy it is to convince yourself that small breaches of rules won't lead to you being injured. In the film, you can see two individuals, doing things wrong and each time, they are put right without anyone being harmed. However, John is not so lucky. No one sees him on his phone in time and no one has put the barrier back in place. To view this film, please click here.

Crossrail Health and Safety Impact Video - Zoey's story

The focus of this film is the importance of following permit systems and relying on competent people, especially when working with electrical systems. In his desire to be helpful and show initiative, the new starter (Peter) decides that, rather than waiting for Colin in the plant room to put in place the correct isolation, he would take action himself. When Colin returns to the plant room and sees that a circuit has been isolated, but not locked off, he wrongly switches it back on. To view this film, please click here.

Crossrail Health and Safety Impact Video - Steve's story

Hot works are well understood as a risk and are normally controlled with a permit process. In this film, a number of unconnected failures occur simultaneously, resulting in escalation and fatal consequences. One of those failures related to somthing as simple as keeping the working area clean and tidy. If it had been, the incident would not have happened. To view this film, please click here.
