The BTS will be 50 in March 2021. To mark this event, the BTS proposes to publish a book. We are now looking for contributions to be included within the book and for volunteers to help produce it.

Harding Prize 2019


Congratulations to the two finalists of the Harding Prize, who presented their papers at the BTS meeting on 18 April. The first finalist, Sandeep Singh Nirmal presented his paper from Mumbai in India over webex. Special congratulations to Eugene K L Wong, who won the competition with his paper "Deformation of framed structures due to tunnelling - a rational and practical assessment approach".

Transforming Infrastructure Performance

Glasgow Shieldhall Tunnel Breakthrough


The Costain Vinci GP JV completed the construction phase of the Glasgow Shieldhall Tunnel on 12th October when the mix-shield, 'Daisy' broke through into the reception shaft at Queens Park. The breakthrough marked the completion of Scotland's biggest wastewater tunnel, running for 5km beneath Glasgow.
